America's 400th Anniversary
Jamestown, Virginia, 1607-2007
In 2007, Virginia invites the world to commemorate an unparalleled event in American history - the 1607 founding of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the New World. The quadricentennial is an opportunity for all Americans to focus on the legacies of Jamestown, 400 years of Virginia history and the Commonwealth's diverse cultures.
In addition to events scheduled at Jamestown Settlement, America's 400th Anniversary is being marked with a series of signature events and programs throughout the year.
Individuals and organizations are invited to become involved in this American milestone. The Virginia 2007 Community Program provides an opportunity for communities to spotlight their unique contributions to Virginia's history and culture.
