There are five satellite stages located at Anniversary Park, Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement. The Heritage Stage, The Godspeed Stage, The Democracy Stage, Exploration Stage and The Commonwealth Stage will present talented performers from all across Virginia and America ranging from orchestras and choirs to cultural dancers.

Performance Highlights:

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of JoAnn Falletta, and Richmond Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Mark Russell Smith, play separately and then combine – for the first time ever – to premier new works by John Corigliano, John Duffy, Adolphus Hailstork and Jennifer Higdon written especially for the commemoration.

10:00 Nashoba Valley Chorale 2006 marked the 30th anniversary of the 25-member choir from Groton, MA they celebrated in grand style in May of that year with a performance of Brahm's German Requiem and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy. Democracy Stage

10:10 Wilmington Children’s Chorus 2006-2007 appearances for the 25 member Wilmington Children's Chorus from Wilmington, DE have included a concert hosted by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Washington, DC; as well as performances along side professional ensembles such as the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and the Delaware Valley Chorale. Their program includes the music of Henry Purcell and John Rutter, with some traditional spirituals and Latin folk songs. Exploration Stage

10:45 Central Islip High School Choir This unique Sweet Adeline Chorus from Central Islip, NY has received rave reviews at Suffolk County Music Educator’s Association’s Jazz Day, where they've performed the last two years. Their program will include the music of Harold Arlen, James Keyes and Kirby Shaw among others. 10:50 East Baton Rouge Parish Children’s Choir The 48 member East Baton Rouge Parish Children’s Chorus from Baton Rouge.  Their program includes the music of Mozart as well spirituals, Cajun music, and traditional American music. Exploration Stage

11:30 Washington Township High School Choir The 75-member Washington Township High School Festival Chorus from Sewell, NJ. Their program consists of American music and folk songs. Exploration Stage
12:00 Dead Men’s Hollow A regional band from Clifton, VA performs 17th & 18th century broadsheet ballads and fiddle tunes from the British Isles to the American Appalachian and Piedmont areas.  Selections include old-time, bluegrass, southern gospel & country blues music with close-harmony vocals backed by acoustic stringed instruments. 7:00 WELCOME AMERICA - II Virginia’s Governor- Tim Kaine, guests and dignitaries join thousands of people at Festival Field. A grand procession, Flags Coming Home representing all 50 states, will lead off the event. America’s Heritage Flag will be revealed in all its glory. The event will also include a first-ever combined performance of the Virginia and Richmond Symphony Orchestras. The orchestras will play symphonic classics as well as newly commissioned works from four notable composers.  A Fanfare of Fireworks will be a spectacular finale as we close the first official day of America’s 400th Anniversary Weekend.  Festival Stage

Performance Highlights:
Three-time Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby & The NoiseMakers leads an evening of rock, R&B and progressive bluegrass. Bruce will be joined by legendary funk and R&B artist Chaka Khan, as well as progressive bluegrass master Ricky Skaggs and his band Kentucky Thunder.  Their performances caps “400 Minutes of Music,” an afternoon-long program featuring contemporary rock infused with native American musical traditions from Brule’, a mix of folk, world, blues and soul music from South African artist Vusi Mahlasela, folk roots music from Michael Seeger, poetic urban folk from Jen Chapin, and alternative country from Scott Miller & The Commonwealth.

12:00 Verizon Presents James Earl Jones Reads  Verizon Brand Ambassador and accomplished stage and screen actor James Earl Jones reads stories to children. Jones is often cited as the first celebrity guest on the Sesame Street series and participated in the earliest shows in 1969. Jones has won two Tony Awards, two Emmys, nominated for an Academy Award and acted in numerous productions over his 40 year career. Exploration Stage

4:30 Vusi Mahlasela Vusi Mahlasela is a South African singer/songwriter whose music is generally described as "African folk." His work was an inspiration to many in the anti-apartheid movement. His themes include the struggle for freedom, and forgiveness and reconciliation with your enemies. He toured with Ladysmith Black Mambazo in the United Kingdom for the group's British tour. Vusi can also be heard performing with Dave Matthews Band, on the song called "Everyday.” Festival Stage

With seven consecutive Grammy- nominated classics behind him bluegrass music is undoubtedly in good hands, with the masterful Skaggs at the helm. Festival Stage

Performance Highlights:
Anniversary Weekend concludes with the performance of a 400-Piece Orchestra and a 1,607-Voice Choir created especially for the commemoration and representing most of the United States. The individual choral and orchestra groups performing at Anniversary Park throughout the weekend join for a powerful concert worthy of America’s 400th Anniversary. Journey of Destiny, a live historical interpretative production about the early years of Jamestown, will include music, dialogue, color and movement. A fireworks finale completes the evening.  A fireworks finale completes the evening.

9:00 Yankee Volunteer Fifes & Drum Corps The Yankee Volunteer Fifes & Drums Corps from Seekonk, MA will perform its 2007 stand piece which includes 6-8 songs intertwined with historical dances by costumed ladies - the only fife & drum corp. that features dance as well as their musket-men. 9:30 Chamber Singers of Bruton High School This group includes 36 advanced singers from York County Virginia perform a concert of choral music featuring American class, composer and themes. Exploration Stage
9:30 Eastern Virginia Brass A professional 5-piece brass ensemble performs a concert of American music from Leonard Bernstein to Scott Joplin. They also perform a movement for a newly commissioned work exclusively to commemorate Jamestown 1607. (A short intermission will be taken at 10:00AM) Democracy Stage
9:45 Blue Ridge Bells (English Handbells) This advanced 14 member youth handbell choir from C. F. Richards Jr. Academy in Staunton, VA have enthusiastically shared their joy through ringing touring much of the East coast, Midwest, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Heritage Stage

6:00 Bay Youth Orchestra Over 250 student musicians from Virginia Beach, VA create four performing ensembles to present concerts throughout the Tidewater area. Students from as far away as Williamsburg and North Carolina, and as close as Virginia Beach participate. Today’s performance includes 73 members. Democracy Stage
6:30 AMERICA'S 400th ANNIVERSARY Finale The momentous weekend will come to a close with as much fanfare as opened it. The Orchestra of 400 and powerful voices of the 1607 Voice Choir will anchor the finale program. The evening will include Journey of Destiny, a live historical interpretative production about the early years of Jamestown. This original production will involve dramatic readings of notable documents from as narrated by a young and old John Smith. The story will be told with music, dialogue, color and movement and contain the key historical events of Jamestown in the years 1607-1619. The final inclusions will be added to the Commemoration Time Capsule and then closed.  In the segment, From Jamestown to Your Town, notable personality will tell the story of Jamestown, really the story of America, a nation with a myriad of faces and ideas whose heart has always been its people. A Finale fireworks display timed and choreographed to music with live synchronization of the Orchestra of 400 and the 1,607 Voice Choir. Festival Stage

9:10 The Lawmen  Fans of the Norfolk Southern Lawmen Band from Spartanburg, SC agree:  These officers serve up an arresting blend of mountain, folk, bluegrass, country and rock music. They’ve been doing so ever since the original Lawmen got their start back in the early 1950s.  Today, they log some 200 performances a year across the country, appearing on national television and in venues ranging from the Grand Ole Opry to the Smithsonian Institution.
